We are excited to announce our new partnership with Elly Kirk Physiotherapy to offer physiotherapy assessment, treatment and sports massage to our junior swimmers. Elly will be offering physiotherapy at Ponds Forge during and after training a couple of nights a week. She will also be working alongside the squad coaches to provide screening and individual injury prevention programmes that can be implemented in pre and post pool sessions.

Elly graduated with a BSc (Hons) from Oxford Brookes University in 2016 before moving to Sheffield and joining Rotherham NHS Trust as a rotational Band 5 Physiotherapist. Alongside this she worked with Armthorpe Welfare FC providing training and match day cover and assisted City of Sheffield Swim Squad, working with the younger age groups on posture and injury prevention, and providing sports massages for the senior squad.

In 2018 Elly also became one of Rotherham United’s Academy Physiotherapists, working with the U7-U16 age groups. She provided physiotherapy assessment, management and carried out intensive rehab programmes during the weekly training sessions plus providing match day physiotherapy. Elly worked alongside the Academy’s Sport Scientists, delivering injury prevention specific warms ups twice a week with the different age groups. She worked closely with the coaches to keep them up to date on any injuries, players rehab status and advised on which players were fit for games.

In 2019 Elly focused on her main interest in musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries and moved to Chapman Physiotherapy, based in Doncaster. She treats a wide range of clients and runs physiotherapy-led exercise classes working on general upper body or lower body strengthening.

Elly holds the ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage and the FA’s level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football.

• £35 30 minutes Physiotherapy
• £25 30 minutes Sports Massage

If your child has a specific injury or a sudden onset of pain, physiotherapy is the initial treatment. However if their muscles are purely feeling tight or sore from all their hard training then massage is for them! If you are unsure on which your child requires, Elly is happy to discuss to help you make a decision on the best course of treatment.

The Age group development squad and JO3 were the first groups to start the competitive season at Team Steel with a stellar performance in the Sheffield and District meet. Led by coaches Charlotte and Lauren the swimmers did an amazing job getting 19 gold , 30 silver and 25 bronze with many more personal bests. AGD is clearly a thriving squad and working very hard in training; we are looking forward to seeing their performances this season.

City of Sheffield Swim Squad would like to thank all the swimmers who participated at our Starts and Turns Camp on the 6thJuly 2019 at Worksop College. We felt it was a huge success and hope you all enjoyed it and learned a lot.

Meet information for our 2020 Galas has now been published on our Forthcoming Galas Page.
