City of Sheffield Masters had a busy time in June with the Yorkshire Championships at Ponds Forge and the British Masters Championships in Swansea only two weeks later. From the results it is clear that Masters swimming at Team Steel has taken some massive strides forward in this last year. Most of this is down to the enthusiasm and energy Coach Wendy brings to the squad. The performances at the Yorkshire masters were the perfect inspiration for our swimmers at the British Masters Championships in Swansea.

City of Sheffield hosted their annual No Frills Meet on the same weekend as the Glasgow International Meet and the final weekend of the NERs. As usual with our home gala we are reliant on the amazing generosity of the volunteers who help to ensure the Meet runs smoothly. A huge thank you to all the volunteers and to Joan Weatherington and Mick Budd for organising these helpers. Having announced on Saturday morning, I can say the meet ran extremely well and seemed to be a great success.

The second round of the Barnsley Minors League took place on 12th May at Edlington. It was again a great performance from Team Steel taking the 1st spot, putting us in an awesome position at the half way point of the 4 BML rounds.

Here is a full list of all our medallists from the North East Region Champiionships.

Over the first May weekend, JO2 embarked to the seaside in Blackpool, but they were not there for the thrills of the rollercoasters of the Promenade. Twenty threeTeam Steel swimmers had entered the Blackpool Rocks swim meet, hoping to show their abilities and rock the competition.
