The Age group development squad and JO3 were the first groups to start the competitive season at Team Steel with a stellar performance in the Sheffield and District meet. Led by coaches Charlotte and Lauren the swimmers did an amazing job getting 19 gold , 30 silver and 25 bronze with many more personal bests. AGD is clearly a thriving squad and working very hard in training; we are looking forward to seeing their performances this season.

Our JO3 swimmers hopefully learned a lot about racing and how to approach a meet and will be able to use those skills more and more this season. Some of the stand out swimmers in this meet were Ronnie Parker, 9, who took home two golds and two silvers with a very impressive performance over the 100m Fly. Also collecting medals were Bailey Carter, 10, with three golds, two silvers and a bronze with a fantastic double in the 50 and 100 Freestyle. Lily White, 10, also took home a double gold in the 50 and 100 Backstroke and also added another gold and silver and a bronze to her collection. Gethin Sinclair, 10, took 2 silvers in both the 50 and 100 Backstroke and a gold and silver for the 50 and 100 Fly. Max Dawson, 10, is clearly loving his breaststroke events with a gold in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke and a great performance in the 200 Breaststroke taking home the silver medal, despite this race being 16 and under. Other awesome performances were Jermaine Mansell, 12, double silver on 100 and 200 Freestyle, Eve Hibbert’s gold and Lacey Iles bronze over the 9 years 100 Butterfly. Willow Harrison gold and silver and Scarlett Sampson silver and bronze both had great swims in the 10 years 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. Sisters Holly and Ruby Webster took the gold and bronze in the 12 years 100 Backstroke. In the 9 years 100 Backstroke Isabel Williams finished in second place earning the silver medal. For the boys Richard Lee, 10, also collected two medals a silver and bronze in the 50 and 100 Breaststroke. Team Steel was really showing their Breaststroke quality with even more medals. Bronze for Anya Finly, 9, in the 100, and for Elijah Harrison, 12, in the 50 and Lewis White, 13, took the gold in the 50. Annabelle-Rose Bartles and Eve White took a one two in the 12 years 100 Butterfly as did Ruben Anderson and Louis Bell in the 10 years 50 Freestyle.

All in all it was a fantastic day of racing with many top performances and personal bests a nd a Top girl and Top boy performance in 10 years age group for Bailey Carter and Gethin Sinclair. Again a big thank you to coaches Charlotte and Lauren for leading this squad to such an amazing performance and all the volunteers, who helped out.
